F4 Strategies and approaches to achieving the Insurance Industry Development Goals for Cities (Part 2)
In 2017, the PSI and ICLEI advanced their global partnership by convening the first-ever Insurance Industry and Cities Summit at the Resilient Cities Congress 2017 in Bonn, Germany. The Summit produced the “Bonn Ambition”, which includes the aim of creating a set of “Insurance Industry Development Goals for Cities” across the risk management, insurance and investment activities of the insurance industry. The purpose of such goals is to set the global agenda for the insurance industry and cities and accelerate action on urban resilience and sustainability. This PSI-ICLEI initiative is strategically linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11 to “make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable”.
The Insurance Industry Development Goals for Cities will be announced at the morning plenary on collective partnerships of the ICLEI World Congress 2018. The announcement will be followed by two consecutive sessions convening insurance industry leaders, mayors and other local government leaders to discuss strategies and approaches to achieving such goals.
This session is organized in partnership with UNEP FI Principles for Sustainable Insurance Initiative.
