Transition lab, the urban fabric renewal of the south-west of the city
Transport: Hybrid bus
Languages: 1 group in French, 1 group in English
Description:
Between land-use optimization of vacant or underused spaces and emerging practices, the Transition Lab, in partnership with la Ville de Montréal, the non-profit organization Entremise, the Maison de innovation sociale and the McConnell Foundation’s Cities for People programme, will facilitate the creation of new collaborative spaces for social innovation projects. Come and discover the Young Project, a very first pilot project of temporary occupation of a vacant municipal building, situated in the Griffintown district - an area in which innovation and social engagement are at the heart of citizens’ lives.
Another space you will visit is Bâtiment 7 located on the former grounds of Canadian National Railway in the Pointe-Saint-Charles district. This old industrial heritage building was converted into a place of gathering thanks to the mobilization of the surrounding community. It is the Collectif 7 à Nous that ensures the development of the project Bâtiment 7 in order to make it an engine for cultural, social, political, economic and environmental transformation. You will also visit the FMR station, an ephemeral public space consisting of old metro wagons, located along the canal Lachine.
