F8 City Climate Planner: Training and professional accreditation for greenhouse gas inventories at community level

The session will introduce the City Climate Planner program which aims to build capacity and accredit professionals around the world which have demonstrated their skills and expertise on the Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventories (GPC).

A panel comprised of the initiative´s partnering organizations ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability (ICLEI), World Resources Institute (WRI) and the GBCI – Green Business Certification Inc. – which contributes to the development of the program – will showcase the value of such technical training. An overview of the program structure, its components, including the training course on the GPC and other modules will be presented.

Addressing technical municipal staff and consultants, an introduction of sectorial principles included in the program for Stationary Energy, Transportation and Waste as well as Industrial Processes and Product Use (IPPU) and Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use (AFOLU).
